NFTE / Network Solutions Web Site Challenge

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Who is eligible?
Participation in the Web Site Challenge is limited ONLY to current students and past alumni of the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) educational program. To be considered a current NFTE student you must: (i) be taught by a NFTE Certified Entrepreneurship Teacher; (ii) use the NFTE curriculum; and (iii) be working towards a business plan. To be considered a NFTE alumnus you must have been taught by an NFTE certified teacher and completed the NFTE curriculum prior to the Spring semester 2008. 

What if I already have a website, can I compete?
Websites created prior to November 17, 2008, cannot be entered in to the contest.  Qualified participants must build a web site using the Network Solutions web site starter site package provided by Network Solutions for this contest.  The websites must be built within the following timeframe, from November 17, 2008 through January 31, 2009, before 11:59 p.m. EST.

What is the contest deadline?
Registrations for participation in the contest will only be accepted from November 17, 2008 through December 17, 2008, before 11:59 p.m. EST. 

All web sites must be completed no later than 11:59 pm (EST) on January 31, 2009. 
NFTE will send all participants an e-mail with a submission form two weeks prior to January 31, 2009, which must be completed and submitted to the judging committee no later than January 31, 2009 by 11:59 pm (EST).

Changes made to any sites after the January 31, 2009, 11:59 pm EST deadline will not be judged and may disqualify the participant. Forms submitted after January 31, 2009, at 11:59 pm EST will not be considered.

Do I need to set up an account or purchase anything from Network Solutions?
No.  No purchase is necessary for the contest.  NFTE will provide eligible registered NFTE participants with a Network Solutions account login and password.

What is the judging criteria for the contest?
Network Solutions/NFTE judging panel/committee will choose the best web sites according to criteria set by NFTE and Network Solutions including:

  1. Overall Aesthetic Appearance of the Web site
  2. Achievement of Business goals with the Web site (e.g. is selling product or service, there is a clear means of making a purchase or contacting the business owner to inquire about services)
  3. Achievement of the web site goals and objectives
  4. Use of  Web site builder Tools provided
  5. Business Information, including market definition and services provided

Changes made to any sites after the January 31, 2009, 11:59 pm EST deadline will not be judged and may disqualify the participant. Forms submitted after January 31, 2009, at 11:59 pm EST will not be considered.
